Glynn also appeared in the film version of the musical in 1982. Besides Sixteen Candles (1984), Glynn acted in other films such as Resurrection (1980), Continental Divide (1981), and The Escape Artist (1982).

Her daughter Mary Stuart Masterson, both director and actress, confirmed the sad news on Instagram. In a heartfelt post, Masterson described her mother as a unique and graceful person, a blend of strength, intelligence, humor and kindness.
Mary added that Glynn was very devoted to her father and had many students and associates who she considered her adopted family.
Additionally, Mary Stuart Masterson shared two photos, one from her mother’s teenage years and one from her 80th birthday, showing the toll of dementia and cancer.
Glynn’s first film role was in the 1975 political thriller The Days of the Condor, in which she starred opposite Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway.
Then, just four years later, she made her Broadway debut in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, winning a special Tony Award for Outstanding Performance in a Musical.
Interestingly, her husband, Peter Masterson, turned the musical into a film in 1982, starring Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton. Carlin Glynn and Peter Masterson were happily married until his death in 2018.
